A Relaxing Weekend Away in the Hill Country.

Alright, y’all. Something you may not know about me is I LOVE to travel. Whether that means jumping in the car and taking an impromptu road trip to the middle of nowhere or getting on a plane to travel half-way around the world! I was raised by a mom who had traveled everywhere from France to New Zealand by the time she was 30, so I guess you could say my travel bug was inevitable. Growing up in Houston, such a diverse city with so many different cultures and food inspired me to get out and see the world! That being said, there’s something truly special about home, right?

For this post I’m going to share with you a romantic weekend getaway I spent in the beautiful Texas hill country with my boyfriend. Every year on our anniversary we pick a location and go for it! This year (our 4 year anniversary) we opted for something a bit closer to home and it was perfect!

If you’ve never had the privilege to visit the great state of Texas there are tons of things to do! But Fredricksburg hits all the marks if you’re a fan of good wine, friendly people, great restaurants and just a slower-paced lifestyle. When starting to plan our trip (I’m the planner in our relationship), I thought about what we were trying to achieve through this trip and I had one goal in mind: to relax. So I immediately went onto Airbnb and searched for homes that were a bit more secluded and would offer us some privacy and much needed down-time. In the midst of all my searching I finally found the ideal place; our weekend oasis. This beautiful little bungalow nestled in a small quiet neighborhood surrounded by tons of deer (every single one of which I wanted to pet of course). Our hosts, Brian and Kristin, couldn’t have been more gracious and responsive. Few things can rival an outdoor patio complete with string lights, fire pit, star-filled skies and a glass of wine. This house hit all the marks.

Winery Recommendations: Grape Creek Vineyards- Grape Creek is a beautiful winery in Fredricksburg that offers a variety of amazing wines for you to try with a very friendly and knowledgeable staff to help you along the way. A couple of our personal favorites were the 2018 Cuvee Blanc, if you like a good crisp white wine, and their version of a Port wine. Having just gotten back that summer from Portugal, we were particularly intrigued to give it a try and it was quite delicious! Signor Vineyards- Signor Vineyards is just down the street from Grape Creek and offers not only great wine but a gorgeous outdoor patio. I truly enjoyed the ambiance of this vineyard and if you’re looking for a great photo opp their infamous “Wine Barn” gives you the perfect backdrop. I am a huge Cabernet Sauvignon drinker and their Cab is incredible. I also enjoy a good glass of Pinot Noir and I would highly recommend theirs.

I hope y’all decide to give a trip to the Texas hill country a try, you won’t regret it! Till next time!
