Skincare.

I am obsessed with any skincare that makes my skin feel clean, bright and smooth. For me, there’s only one brand that fits that criteria in ever way– Tula. I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about this brand and their products. I have been blessed to have good skin my whole life with the exception of a couple of years in college where I struggled with acne.

Over the past year, I have done some research about the chemicals that are put into skincare products as well as hair products and it got me re-thinking the way I treat my skin. I wanted to find products that were kind to my skin and not injecting harsh chemicals into it. After reading Tula’s mission statement I knew they were the perfect company for me to try and I’m so happy I did. Right now my morning routine consists of: Acne Foam Cleanser, Summer Fridays Vitamin C Serum, 24-7 Moisturizer, Protect + Glow Daily Sunscreen, Rose Glow Cooling + Brightening Eye Balm. If I’m putting on makeup that day, I’ll add in the Face Filter Primer as my last step. I also exfoliate about three times a week using Tula’s So Polished Exfoliating Sugar Scrub. It helps remove all that extra dead skin on my face and leave a fresh face, allowing all of my amazing skincare products to get to work on my skin.

My Morning Skincare Routine
Note: I have fairly dry skin, have mild redness around my cheeks area and have sensitive skin. These products are all sensitive skin friendly, at least they have been for me!

Another thing I like to do for my skin once a week to give it a nice glow is a brightening face mask. I use the Summer Fridays Overtime Mask. It gives my skin the perfect pick-me-up it needs and leaves my skin feeling so soft. Plus, as an added bonus it smells amazing! Highly recommend you add this into your weekly skincare routine if you haven’t already! Your skin will thank you!

It’s my personal opinion that money spent on keeping your skin fresh and healthy is ALWAYS money well spent. You’re investing in yourself and in the process giving your self some love and much needed self-care. Not to mention the results will encourage you to keep investing in those products. Keep in mind, everyone’s skin is different, but these products have really worked for me.

Makeup.

My approach to my makeup routine is to keep it simple. I am not a huge fan of expecting women to sit in front of the mirror for 30 minutes each morning applying their makeup. I also don’t like makeup products that feel heavy on my skin. I prefer a natural look that emphasize the unique features you already have. Makeup should act as a way to enhance your natural beauty, not hide it. I know everyone says this but it’s true. You will rarely find me with anything more on than some foundation, highlighter and mascara. My daily routine doesn’t include eyeliner typically unless I am feeling a little extra fancy that day haha. Finding ways to highlight your natural beauty should always be the goal when creating your makeup routine. Now, this doesn’t mean you can’t mix things up sometimes and have fun with your makeup for special occasions. I love trying out new looks for a night out.

I am going to break down my daily makeup routine for you here: Beauty Blender, Liquid Foundation- Beauty Counter Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation (full disclosure- I just switched to this brand because I found out recently that the bareMinerals discontinued the foundation I was using), Bronzer Powder- Elizabeth Mott Whatsup Beaches Matte Bronzer, Highlighter- BECCA Cosmetics (shade- Prosecco Pop), Concealer- Tarte Shape Tape, Eyebrows- Maybelline Tattoo Studio (shade- soft brown), Mascara- L’Oreal Voluminous Superstar, Lips- I don’t typically use any lip gloss or lipstick I just wear Sun Bum tinted (shade: Nude Beach) chapstick everyday.

Makeup Remover- Simple Micellar Cleansing Water.

One of my close friends is a makeup artist and I feel like when I watch her I have no idea what I’m doing when applying my own makeup. But then she reminded me that makeup, just like your style, is personal and unique to you. Sure, there are certain techniques that everyone can use that will help them but overall it’s about your personal expression and how you want to present yourself that day.
