5 Things I Do To Start My Day Off Right.

Hi, friends! So, before I get too far into this post I want to start with this. I am in no way perfect. Therefore, these things don’t happen every day because life happens and we all get busy and things don’t go according to plan. That being said, I strive to do these things every morning to give myself the best possible foundation for my day.

Do My Skincare Routine

I like to start my morning every day with some self-care. For me, this means giving my skin some much needed love. To see my whole morning routine check out my post under Beauty on the blog. It took me years to understand the effect it has on my psyche if I start my day with doing something positive for myself. Investing in oneself is the best thing you can possibly do. Even if you just start with something small and easy, like a face cleanser and toner. You’ll be amazed how it makes you feel and gives you a “fresh” start to your day.

Take A Moment For Gratitude

This step is crucial to helping me mentally prepare for my day. I wake up, stand in front of my mirror before I start my skincare routine and think of something I’m grateful for that day. It could be anything from I’m grateful I was able to wake up today, or I’m grateful to have a job right now in a year where so many do not, or I’m grateful to have such a loving, supportive family. Anything you can think of to start your day on a positive note and give you the opportunity to pause and thank the Lord for all the blessings in your life is a moment well spent.

Make My Bed

I’m a huge believer in that if your space is clean and tidy your mind will feel more at ease. Making sure that your environment directly effects your psyche in a positive way is crucial to a good start to the day. If my space is clean, I feel much less anxious. I highly recommend starting your day with a clean and tidy space to help ease your mental space before work.

Drink My Morning Cold Brew Coffee

This is an absolute MUST for me in the morning. If I don’t want to be comatose walking into work, I have to have a cup of coffee. It’s funny really, I never used to be that person who couldn’t get moving without some caffeine in my system but as I get older it becomes more and more of a necessity. Anyone else feeling that struggle? I actually didn’t even enjoy the taste of coffee until the past couple of years and now that I’ve found what I like, I’m hooked. I drink an unsweetened cold brew coffee and pour in my favorite coconut and almond milk creamer from Trader Joe’s to get my day started.

Listen to My Favorite Podcast On the Way to Work

I’ve recently started getting into podcasts in the past year and right now one of my favorites is Sophia Bush’s podcast called Work In Progress. She speaks with influential people from Glennon Doyle, to Kate Bosworth, to former U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power. Her podcast is honest and raw, discussing pressing issues that our world is currently facing and seeking out experts on those matters to hopefully gain new perspectives on how to move forward and create effective change in our own communities. I think listening to something thought-provoking in the morning is a great way to jump-start your brain. It helps stimulate your mind and get you thinking in a way that is goal-driven and ambitious.

Thanks for sharing! Daily gratitude and daily devotionals are something I’ve been doing for awhile now, although I’m not great at doing it EVERY single day. I’m working on it and agree it’s so important <3
